ISO 14001:2004

ISO 14001:2004 specifies requirements for an environmental management system to enable an organization to develop and implement a policy and objectives which take into account legal requirements and other requirements to which the organization subscribes, and information about significant environmental aspects. It applies to those environmental aspects that the organization identifies as those which it can control and those which it can influence. SA 8000

The SA8000 Standard is the central document of our work at SAI. It is one of the world’s first auditable social certification standards for decent workplaces, across all industrial sectors. It is based on the UN Declaration of Human Rights, conventions of the ILO, UN and national law, and spans industry and corporate codes to create a common language to measure social performance. It takes a management systems approach by setting out the structures and procedures that companies must adopt in order to ensure that compliance with the standard is continuously reviewed. Those seeking to comply with SA8000 have adopted policies and procedures that protect the basic human rights of workers.

GOTS or the Global Organic Textile Standard is the world’s leading processing standard for textile products made from organic fibers. For a manufacturer to be accredited with GOTS, textile products must contain a minimum of 70% organic fiber in their final products alongside a high-level of environmental criteria extended across the entire textiles supply chain.

Chemical compounds used for production such as dyestuffs and auxiliaries must meet environmental and toxicological criteria and the choice of accessories is limited to comply with ecological aspects. An efficient waste water treatment plant is mandatory for any wet-processing unit involved and all processors must comply with minimum social criteria.

Our global counterparts have vested in us absolute trust for the organic formation of our final products. Our textiles are certified by the ‘Organic Content Standard (OCS)’ presented by the Textile Exchange, a non-profit organization as an accepted norm for tracking and verifying the content of organically grown materials in a final product.

The accreditation guarantees that our textiles are made with organically grown materials which conform to the OCS. It guarantees the traceability and integrity of our raw materials used throughout our manufacturing tiers.

This distinguishing body operates internationally and is committed to the responsible expansion of textile sustainability across the global textile value chain. (The Organic Content Standard (OCS) applies to any non-food product containing 5-100% organic material.)
